addicted to travian

so this will be of no interest to most people.

I got addicted to travian, a online browser game.

I got a goodish start on one of the servers, and have been terrorizing the local folk.

I got the following in game mail.

now when the net first started, I was known by my NNTP news name, and people referred to me as that.

next came the mailing lists, and I was refered to as ian @ apache.

blogs came, and I became a URL

linkedin & facebook tried to succeed that with their status/social networks, with limited success. I still use them to "google" a stranger I'm talking too.

naturally jabber and IRC spring to mind for the chat, but ideally I'm looking for something which can do both and there might be something else out there i'm not thinking of.

any ideas?
