When is "something":http://www.bea.com/framework.jsp?CNT=pr01642.htm&FP=/content/news_events/press_releases/2006
a "Validation of your business model":http://itredux.com/blog/2006/03/01/bea-jumps-into-bpms/, and when is it a "nail in your coffin":http://bea.com/framework.jsp?CNT=index.htm&FP=/content/products/aqualogic/
?
While it must be great for a founder to have a better idea on what his companies market value really is, I'm not so sure I'd be overjoyed that he now has another gorilla in his playground with lots of cash and marketing experience to compete with.
"Ode":http://incubator.apache.org/projects/ode.html, a merger of Intalio and Sybase's offerings, is going to be fantastic, and for sure Intalio's management has some great innovative ideas like "Demand Driven Development":http://itredux.com/blog/2006/02/13/demand-driven-development/
but is it enough?
the BPMS market looks like it is ready for some rationalisation, there are several large java BPMS engines out there, and about a dozen other smaller projects.. is the market large enough to support them all?
I guess time will tell.
